How Rates Work in OpenTug

Overview

Rates in OpenTug determine how voyages are priced and billed based on route, size, product, and date validity.

High-level flow

  1. A voyage is planned

  2. OpenTug evaluates eligible tariffs

  3. Matching rates are selected based on:

    • Location

    • Stop Type

    • Size (min/max)

    • Product or category

    • Effective date

  4. Charges are calculated and applied to the voyage


Rate Types Explained

COA Rates

Used for long-term or contracted pricing agreements.

Tows

Used for tow specific pricing.

Contracts

Customer-specific negotiated pricing.

Misc Rates

Ad-hoc charges and adjustments.
